Acura Transmission Repair and Service | Farmingdale Transmission Repair

Straight Talk from the Acura transmission Experts?

Acura has a reputation for making one of the most reliable luxury vehicles on the road and is highly rated for their reliability by Consumer Reports. So when your Acura has a transmission issue or even worse a transmission failure, it’s usually a big surprise. The last thing you need is more surprises during the repair process.

Are you interested in saving up to 30% off the Dealership and Franchise Transmission shop prices?

Saving 30% is only part of the story … What if your issue can be fixed with a minor repair? How much would you save then? The most common Acura transmission problems we see are the minor ones that cause the Shifter Indicator light to blink. These issues are typically electronic in nature, not mechanical. So why replace the whole transmission? Do you trust a dealer or a commissioned sales person to offer a minor repair? We don't have the salesman mentality of the new car dealerships, their answer to most transmission issues is to sell you another transmission to cure the problem. So if you drive an Acura RSX, ILX, TSX, TL, RL, RDX, MDX or an older model like the Integra, our trained Acura technicians can properly diagnose the difference between a relatively minor electrical issue and a larger internal mechanical failure.

Our first step is to find out if your transmission's problem is electrical in nature, as many of them are. After all, the electronics for most Acura transmissions are external components designed for easy servicing, but they are exposed the harsh elements under your vehicle. We want to determine if the problem can be fixed WITHOUT removing the transmission from the vehicle. This can save you a lot of money and time.

"What if it's not electrical? What then?"

Those are great questions … Let me take a few moments to explain the design limitations of Acura transmissions, there is no transmission oil pan or inspection cover for us to remove to give us an idea of what exactly is going on inside the transmission. Without that access, there is no way to tell for certain the extent of the wear or damage within the transmission without completely removing & disassembling the transmission.

Sounds like a scary proposition, right?

At most transmission shops, yes it is. Some may want to charge you upwards of $600 to Remove, Dismantle and Inspect (RDI) your transmission before you’re given a real price. By that time you’ll be trapped, pay their price or pay to have your broken transmission pieced back together and installed in your car. Then go through the trouble of finding a shop that you trust, that can substantially beat their price and is willing to take on a potential basket case.
